What Personal Data We Collect and Why
Comments:
When visitors leave comments, we collect the data shown in the comments form, plus the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to assist with spam detection.
An anonymised hash of your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to verify if you use it. View Gravatar’s privacy policy at: https://automattic.com/privacy/.
Media:
If you upload images, avoid including embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and extract location data from images on the site.
Cookies:
If you leave a comment, you can opt-in to saving your name, email and website in cookies — for your convenience. These cookies last one year.
If you visit the login page, a temporary cookie is set to check your browser’s cookie support. It is discarded when you close your browser.
Login cookies last two days (or two weeks if “Remember Me” is selected). Editing or publishing content sets an additional cookie, expiring after one day.
Social Login:
If you log in via Google, Facebook, Twitter or the like, we may collect basic profile details (e.g., name, email, profile picture) provided by the social platform. We do not store your password or access your personal accounts.
Embedded Content:
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images). These sites may collect data, use cookies, and track your interaction with embedded content if you’re logged in to their platform.
Who We Share Your Data With
If you request a password reset, your IP address is included in the reset email. Otherwise, we do not sell or share your data with third parties unless required by law.
How Long We Retain Your Data
If you leave a comment, it and its metadata are retained indefinitely.
If you register an account, we store your personal info in your user profile. You can view, edit, or delete your info at any time (except username). Site admins can also view/edit that data.
Your Rights
You may request an exported file of your data or ask us to delete it. This excludes data we’re required to retain for administrative, legal, or security reasons.
Where Your Data Is Sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
